Focus on American Cinema

For the first time at DANAFF IV, the Focus on American Cinema program is introduced as a structured platform to engage with one of the most influential film industries in the world. Through a curated selection of representative films, the program offers multi-dimensional perspectives on narrative approaches, production models, and contemporary development trends in American cinema, while helping audiences and film professionals to access international experiences in cinematic practice.

A series of professional film seminars

DANAFF IV continues to develop a professional film seminar series with an independent structure, focusing on key issues of contemporary cinema. The series aims to create in-depth forums for exchange among researchers, filmmakers, and industry experts.

The seminar “The U.S. film industry - Successful production models and their application in Vietnam” examines production structures, project development processes, and operational mechanisms of American cinema, while exploring possibilities for reference and adaptation within the specific conditions of Vietnamese cinema.

The seminar “Digital technology, A.I., and intellectual property rights protection in filmmaking” focuses on the increasingly visible impact of digital technology and AI on film creation, production, and distribution, as well as the challenges related to intellectual property protection in a digitalized environment.

Through in-depth discussion formats, the seminar series seeks to foster dialogue among filmmakers, experts, and policymakers, contributing to the linkage between theoretical discourse and the practical development of the film industry.

“The face of Vietnamese Cinema after 40 Years of Đổi Mới”

The thematic program “The face of Vietnamese Cinema after 40 Years of Đổi Mới” revisits the evolution of Vietnamese cinema over the past four decades, from creative contexts and artistic thinking to shifts in the positioning of Vietnamese cinema within the regional landscape.

Through film screenings and panel discussions, the program outlines a comprehensive picture of changes in cinematic language, production models, and audience engagement, while opening dialogue on future directions for Vietnamese cinema and offering an overarching view of its dynamic movement in the era of deeper integration.

DANAFF Talents - Script Lab for Vietnamese Filmmakers

Within the framework of DANAFF Talents, Script Lab continues to be implemented as an intensive training program focused on screenplay development, exclusively for Vietnamese screenwriters and filmmakers. The program targets projects currently in the script development stage, aiming to bring them closer to production readiness.

In collaboration with Columbia University (USA) and Autumn Meeting, Script Lab provides support to writers and project teams through in-depth working sessions, script consultations, and content development guidance, while facilitating connections with an international network of film professionals.

DANAFF Industry Networking

DANAFF IV expands its film industry connectivity through a new program, DANAFF Industry Networking, which includes roundtable discussions, case study sharing, and B2B activities. The program creates opportunities for dialogue among producers, directors, distributors, and investors.

Through these activities, DANAFF IV aims to foster collaboration, support project development processes, and strengthen connections between Vietnamese cinema and regional as well as international film industries.

DANAFF’s Cinephiles - Building a Film-Loving Community in Da Nang

Alongside its professional and industry-focused activities, DANAFF IV continues to emphasize audience development through DANAFF’s Cinephiles, a program dedicated to building a community of film enthusiasts in Da Nang. The program seeks to enhance audiences’ reception capacity, aesthetic appreciation, and ability to engage in dialogue with cinematic works.

Through film screenings and interactive exchanges, DANAFF’s Cinephiles contributes to the formation of a dynamic and sustainable film-viewing community, while strengthening the connection between the Film Festival and the cultural life of Da Nang.

Through the expansion of professional programs, talent development initiatives, and industry networking activities, DANAFF IV continues to be positioned as a platform that promotes cinematic dialogue, supports emerging talent, and enhances regional and international cooperation.
